About this Year 8 statistics quiz
This free Year 8 statistics quiz helps New Zealand students practise the statistical investigation skills in Mathematics and Statistics. Students calculate the mean, median, mode and range, read a frequency table, choose a suitable graph for time-series data, and recognise a good investigative question. Stretch questions ask students to work backwards from a mean and to decide which average best describes data with an unusual value. These skills help students make sense of the data they meet in surveys, sport and the news. Every question includes an explanation and worked steps so students understand the reasoning, not just the answer.
