About this Year 5 reading comprehension quiz
This free Year 5 reading comprehension quiz helps New Zealand students practise understanding what they read. Students read an original story about Ana and her koro on a night walk at a wildlife sanctuary near Wellington, then answer questions that find information in the text, put events in order, work out the meaning of words from context, and make inferences about how a character feels. These are the reading skills students use every day across the curriculum. Each question includes an explanation that points back to the part of the story that holds the answer, so students learn how to find evidence.
Reading original texts and answering literal, inferential and vocabulary questions.
